Type In Cases
While, for the most part, our books are now printed in types cast fresh at the press (see below), there are a handful of faces that we have in good quantity which were cast by others (including by Jim Rimmer, Alex Widen and, of course, M&H). Below is a very abreviated list (there are hundreds of cases of type in the shop).

I'm very lucky to have a fair bit of foundry Romanée, cast by Enschedé in the early 20th century. Although our holdings are limited to the roman, they include a large quantity of 14ptD, as well as two cases of 12ptD, one of 16ptD, and a decent fount of the rare 16ptD swash capitals. Type Matrices
Most of the mats in our inventory are Monotype display (flat) mats, but we also have a nice assortment of rare sets, including the ATF foundry mats for 16pt Cloister Light Face (see image) in roman, italic, small caps and swash. Thanks to Dan Jones in Toronto for putting together a very useful foundry-mat holder for the Super Caster, which makes casting this stuff possible.

This face and its set of mats has a very interesting history, which will eventually emerge as a book, but for the moment let's just say that it is a never-released type designed by Ernst Detterer (the roman & small caps) and Robert Hunter Middleton (the italic). The design was scrapped and never released by Ludlow, later updated and released as Ludlow Eusebius. Our holdings include the original steel punches for the R-I-SC-SW, a set of Thompson-style flat mats for the roman and small caps, and a set of foundry-style copper mats for the italic, made by Jim Rimmer for Paul Hayden Duensing using the original punches.
